Why Did Jesus Die?
The Greatest Gift Ever Given
Jesus Christ died on the cross as the perfect and final sacrifice for sin. In doing so, He personally paid the full price for every sin — past, present, and future.
The Bible clearly states in Romans 6:23 (a):
“For the wages of sin is death…”
This “death” isn’t just physical — it’s eternal separation from God in Hell. Every sin earns a wage, and that wage is death.
But there is hope.
Romans 6:23 (b) continues:
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Salvation — forgiveness of sin — is a gift, not a reward. It is offered freely by God, not something we can earn, achieve, or deserve.
No good deed, religious act, or moral lifestyle can buy this gift. In fact, Isaiah 64:6 tells us that even our most righteous efforts are like filthy rags before a holy God.
Ephesians 2:8–9 makes it crystal clear:
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Salvation is entirely by grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
If you have not yet received that gift, don’t delay. Jesus didn’t die to give you religion — He died to give you life. And that life is found in Him alone.
Will you accept the gift?
